Cody Johnson Wraps 2023 with Career Firsts
Platinum selling artist Cody Johnson is closing out the calendar year with multiple career firsts and highlights: a new hit single, two national television special/performances, a sold-out concert tour, a powerful new critically acclaimed album Leather and surpassing 6 Billion global career streams.
Cody’s current Top 15 hit “The Painter” has become his biggest career single release with more than 95 million global streams and more than 4.2 million on demand weekly streams since its release. The song reigning two-weeks #1 on Sirius/XM’s Hot 30 Weekend Countdown and is included on the New York Times ‘Best Songs of 2023’ list. Tonight, he debuts his first-ever television special with “CMT Presents: A Cody Johnson Christmas” airing at 9pm ET/8pm CT. Cody is joined by his wife Brandi, daughters Clara and Cori, mom Sheila and dad Carl, plus special guests Kevin Fowler and Roger Creager as the Johnson’s invite viewers to celebrate a Texas cowboy Christmas with an amazing night of sharing music, family traditions and memories.
On Sunday, December 31, Cody joins the line up for “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.” The celebration to ring in the new year will air LIVE from Music City at 7:30-10:00pm ET/PT, 10:30pm-1:05am ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and will stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
Last weekend Cody wrapped his touring year with nearly 30 sold-out headline performances. On January 19, 2024, Cody will launch “The Leather Tour” on the west coast with concerts planned across the U.S. and Canada. On February 2, he will headline Nashville’s Bridgestone Areana for the first-time having previously sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium and First Bank Amphitheater. On November 3, Cody released his third COJO Music / Warner Music Nashville studio album Leather. The 12-track album was produced by Trent Willmon and has made multiple ‘best of lists’ including countrynow.com and Holler magazine.
His stellar 2023 also included being named Best New Country Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, taking home the CMT Music Award for Performance of The Year and “’Til You Can’t” winning Country Song of The Year at the Grammy Awards.
