CODY JOHNSON’S INDEPENDENTLY RELEASED “WITH YOU I AM” GOES GOLD

Country star Cody Johnson’s song “With You I Am” has just been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This prestigious achievement recognizes that the downloads and streams have reached the equivalent of 500,000 units of the song sold — an honor made even more notable by the fact that Johnson released the single when he was an independent artist.

“With You I Am” was the lead single off Johnson’s acclaimed 2016 record GOTTA BE ME, an album he released on COJO Music LLC, distributed by TuneCore. TuneCore has distributed many independent artists in all genres. Johnson is one of the few country artists to break through the tightly guarded national country scene as an independent Artist.

“With You I Am” remains one of Johnson’s most popular songs among fans, and the fact that it reached Gold status shows just how much the song resonates nationwide.  The RIAA Gold certification is particularly impressive considering Johnson released the song without a national radio campaign. The album GOTTA BE ME also landed at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart.

Cody Johnson partnered with Warner Music Nashville in mid-2018 after releasing five albums and building a passionate following independently. His first album on COJO Music/ Warner Music Nashville, AIN’T NOTHIN’ TO IT, continued Johnson’s upward trajectory and earned him his first No. 1 album on the U.S. Country charts.

With one of the most recognizable voices in modern country, Johnson continues his workmanlike approach to music, playing across the country both at his own sold-out shows and as support to fellow Texas native Miranda Lambert.
