Cody Johnson Releases “Rabbit Gets The Gun” with Jay Buchanan of Rival Sons

Multi-Platinum-selling 2026 ACM Entertainer of the Year and four-time CMA nominee Cody Johnson is releasing “Rabbit Gets The Gun,” featuring Jay Buchanan of Rival Sons, on all streaming platforms today; get it here. The former Amazon Original track was released in April ahead of Cody’s first headline appearance at Stagecoach, where Jay made a surprise appearance to perform it with Cody.

“Rival Sons has always been my favorite rock band,” Cody shared. “It was such an out-of-this-world experience. I loved being in the studio with Jay. He has so much soul and grit, and an unmistakable voice.”

Cody’s current radio single, “Horseback,” from his recently released Banks of the Trinity album, continues to climb the charts. Written by Randy Montana, Wyatt McCubbin, and Paul Sikes and produced by Trent Willmon, the single premiered on country radio this summer. “Horseback” follows Cody’s recent #1 song, “The Fall,” which peaked on radio the same week he won the coveted Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year honors at the ACM Awards in May.

Cody has four nominations for the upcoming 60th Annual CMA Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year (“The Fall”), and Video of the Year for Cody’s massive #1 hit “The Fall.” The CMA Awards will air live on Wednesday, Nov. 18, on ABC, Disney+ and the next day on Hulu.
