Cody Johnson Releases Music Video for “The Fall”
The video bridges together two sides of Cody’s life, the cowboy and the entertainer. World champion bull fighter Cody Webster stars in the leading role playing the rider who gets beaten up and thrown down, but he gets back up to ride again. The lyrics of the song are brought in to clear focus as the film changes imagery of Cody performing the song in a dark field in the pouring rain and the bull fighter who proves over and over again the ride is indeed worth the fall.
The video’s premiere falls on the heels of Cody’s second-annual COJO Championship Event, presented by Tractor Supply Company, held in Benton, Texas last week. Unfortunately, Cody was unable to attend due to his recent emergency 3surgery to repair a burst ear drum. The competition showcased elite team roping and breakaway athletes from across the country, with proceeds benefiting the Texas FFA Foundation both throughout the event and during the Champs for Charity: Cowboy auction, and dinner upholding Cody’s enduring commitment to empowering the next generation of agricultural and rodeo leaders.
“The Fall” is the second single off Cody’s Leather Deluxe Edition album and was written by Bobby Pinson, Jeremy Stover & Ray Fulcher. Bob Oermann, MusicRow Magazine, claimed of the song, “Philosophical, moody and super compelling. ‘The ride was worth the fall/The fall was worth the smile/Smiles were worth the tears…Life is worth the fall.’ A superb song in the throat of a master stylist. Essential.”
Cody has four nominations for the upcoming “The 59th Annual CMA Awards” including Entertainer of the Year, his first-ever with the CMA’s, Male Vocalist of the Year as well as Music Event and Video of the Year with Carrie Underwood for their two-week #1 hit “I’m Gonna Love You.” The CMA Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, November 19 on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
