Cody Johnson Honored with Wins for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards
Multi-Platinum-selling artist Cody Johnson has reached the pinnacle this week, winning big at last night's Academy of Country Music Awards, where he took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year awards. The wins bring his career ACM honors to four.
Next month, on June 26, Cody will release a new studio album, Banks Of The Trinity. The album features collaborations with Luke Combs and Brothers Osborne and was produced by Trent Willmon. The record will be available in stores and at all digital retailers and streaming platforms. Banks Of The Trinity is now available for pre-order HERE.
When Cody accepted the Entertainer award onstage, he was deeply moved by the unexpected win, saying he was truly surprised and that he’s always tried to pour all his emotions into his music. He also dedicated the Entertainer award to fellow nominee Luke Combs, ‘who opened a lot of doors for me.’ Backstage, when Cody spoke with the press about the Entertainer win, he said, “As a cowboy, this is the gold buckle I’ve chased my whole life.”
During the show, Cody performed one of his most-requested live concert songs, “Travelin’ Soldier.” In response to popular demand, Cody released a studio version of the song last fall, and it became the highest-charting song of his career, debuting at #12 and earning nearly 15 million global streams in its first week. The ACM Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and were livestreamed exclusively on Prime Video.
Cody is also on top at country radio this week with “The Fall,” which reigns at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The hit, written by Bobby Pinson, Jeremy Stover & Ray Fulcher, becomes Cody’s fifth career #1 single, following “’Til You Can’t,” “The Painter,” “Dirt Cheap,” and “I’m Gonna Love You” with Carrie Underwood.
